[PO-3036] The Spirit Calling Bell
[Description]
The Spirit Calling Bell, hereby referred to as PO-3036, is a remarkable silver-colored hand bell totalling 1.81 kilogrmas in weight and is 14 centimeters tall, though is made from an unidentified, incredibly durable metal.
Engravings plastered across the bell reads “Therefor what we have joined together, let no one separate. We are only one ring away.”
[Function]
PO-3036 itself lends the power to summon creatures that have recently died in its presence. The only limitation is that the summoner, who must ring the bell at once, must know the name of the summoned creature or summoned creatures. For simpler organisms, such as a dog or cat, “labrador retriever” and “gray tabby” work just fine, though they also answer to “Malachi” and “Jangm-o”, names they had also answered to when they were alive.
On a similar note, the spirit of a person can be called by merely speaking their name. Janeira Jameson (PO-3036-01, from here on out) will summon an elderly woman from the same universe the bell was retrieved, but multiple individuals or creatures can be summoned at the same time.
Calling multiple spirits requires them to have died in the prescence of the bell, within a relatively recent period, and a fitting monicker for the grouped individuals. “Blue Lions” will conjure a platoon of infantryman from what was a battle in Universe ██, Sector ██-█████-██ years prior to recovery, but not any member of the opposing faction who had also been slain nearby.
CURRENTLY: CONTAINED!
[Discovery]
PO-3036 was first discovered in Universe ██, Sector ██-█████-██, retrieved from a young adult who says the relic had been passed down for generations until it landed to him. When questioned why he lived his life in a small-time village while he held the power to topple kingdoms, he replied ‘I don’t want any of that bloodshed on my hands. I just want to see my family.’ A bit of persuasion and sorrowful goodbyes had him part with the object. Following a demonstration, the dispatched H.U.N.T team was able to make use of the object with ease. The human himself, however, had no obvious anomalous abilities.
[Containment and Testing]
PO-3036 is to be contained within glass casing, following general safety procedures and to make sure it does not happen to act on its own even while unattended.
TEST: PO-3036 1
Tests are ran, including the limit of a ‘group’ of creatures, which seems to be 76. Grouped creatures can’t be called individually, and adding a group of the same name seems to overwrite the previous one.
The ‘parrot’ test is ran, urging them to repeat several phrases before they are rendered unto the bell, where they repeat the same phrases and do not acknowledge new ones.
Combat is ran, including spirit-on-spirit action. They are only as good as they were in life. A mamba brought in secreted poison from its fangs, and when milked, ran out.
It seems someone has to visualize a spirit before they can summon it. A member of the dispatched H.U.N.T force can summon Janeira Jameson as they were privy to photos and imagery, but Subject H could not, regardless of witnessing the spirit, but could conjure several animals perfectly fine. Janeira Jameson was, or is not currently, very capable of combat.
Interview Log 01: Featuring Kylan Jameson
The two dispatched members were undercover so as to not draw attention. The audio begins with Agent █████ and Agent ███████ knocking on the door of Kylan’s home, which he answers.
Agent 1: Morning. Are you.. Kylan?
K: Yes..? And you two are?
Agent 1: Sorry, I’m █████, this is my partner ███████. We’re members of the Magistry and happened upon a.. curious entry.
Both agents flash their very real identification. Kylan buys it.
Agent 1: We were here to ask about the.. Spirit Calling Bell, was it? May we come in?
K: Of- of course. Just what about, though..?
For 15 minutes, it’s a bit of back and forth between the agents, Kylan, and the bell’s history.
Agent 1: Is there any particular reason you’re merely holding on to the bell like this? You could be a king, you know.
K: I d-don’t care for all that. I’d have to do unspeakable things. It lets me see my family again, and that’s all that matters.
Agent 2: But it’s not really them, is it?
Kylan looks to the floor, somber, and confirming their suspicions.
Agent 1: Let us take it off your hands. We can make sure no one takes advantage of it again, and you’ll get to move on.
Kylan glanced back up, serious.
K: Promise me. Promise me no one will ever get their hands on this thing again. And that you’ll take care of them for me.
Agent 1 & 2: Promise.
